Great Gifts

When it comes to buying gifts for someone in the military it can be tough because they travel light and get most of what they NEED from Uncle Sam. Here is a list of ideas just to help out. Please add your suggestions in the comments! (I could always use more)

1. A watch; a good one, preferably waterproof and with a digital compass. Check this one out: Casio Men's Digital Watch

2. Books on his particularly military interest. Paul is 18X, so ANY information is helpful. Here are a few:

*Note, I have only read and can recommend the first two, but the others were given good reviews

3. Lingerie: it may seem cliche, but what a great way to say "I miss you, and I've been waiting for you" Plus, have you ever heard him say "I really wish you owned less lingerie"?

4. Non-Issue equipment: Always check with your soldier about this, but some good ones:

*Note, most of these can be purchased for less money on ebay, amazon, or other websites.

5. Scrapbook his experience. With the wonderful advent of company pages on facebook it's easy to download photos (even if you can't make out your soldier) and add in your own photos to complete a memory book of BCT, AIT, etc.

6. AFTER training, never during, a tattooed wedding ring for him. Fingers crossed we get to do this soon!

  1. "I really wish you owned less lingerie" made me laugh :)

That's exactly what I've gotten for my husband. He graduates in 22 days (but who's counting?!).
He's also been itching for a new tattoo as well, so that's something we're going to do when he's "free" again.
I've enjoyed your blog posts :)

    1. Hey Nadine! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Oh, the infamous countdown (I have two on my desktop.) Did you have any other gift suggestions?

  2. Thanks for the input! I didn't realize there was a big difference, but it's a good thing to know, also I'll put up the Survival Straps, that's a great idea.
